You, your school, your world – make the most of it!

We have finally come to the end of Reception year, and your children have all worked so hard. This term has passed so quickly and we have managed to pack such a lot in! I wish everyone a very happy and relaxed summer, and thank you to you all for your support from home this past year. Goslings class are more than ready for the new challenges of year one, and I wish them all the very best.

Sports week with Goslings class

Welcome to the last half term of the Goslings class school year! We can't believe how quickly the year has gone, and we still have lots to do before the end of term. Please look at the newsletter for more details about upcoming topics and events.

  • Until the end of term we continue to have PE on a Tuesday and Football coaching on a Monday so please send in PE kits for those days.
  • As the weather is  getting warmer we'd really appreciate it if you could sun-cream children before school, and send them in with a named water bottle and hat for playing outside. We're looking forward to some lovely outdoor learning opportunities this term, so fingers crossed for lots of sunny days!

Easter Newsletter

Another busy half term, Goslings have really enjoyed the topic about pirates where have talked about what pirates were really like (not nice at all!), made and painted a pirate ship and made hats and eye patches. We learned that not all famous pirates were men, and labelled the different parts of a pirate ship. We even played a really exciting game in PE where we were pirates sneakily trying to capture another team's treasure! We made old treasure maps by ripping the edges off our paper then soaking it in tea - the results were fantastic and our maps look they were from a really long time ago.

This week we are looking at the Easter story and making lots of Easter crafts in the lead up to the holidays.

World Book Day & The Gingerbread Man performance

It's hard to believe but we're half-way through our reception year already! This has been a busy term so far and you can see lots of pictures from our topics by clicking on the links below, and please read the February newsletter for more details about the things we have learned this term. Lots of photos from Goslings class have gone up on the 'Wear it Red' link on the website, thank you to everybody for supporting this day as we raised lots of money for charity. Coming up next term we have topics on everything from The Gingerbread Man to Easter so enjoy a relaxing half term holiday, and we'd love to hear your child's Wow! moments when they come back.

We wore our red clothes to show our support for a year six pupil who underwent heart surgery in the past, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Thank you for your donations to this worthy cause.

Please read the newsletter for lots of details about what we will be learning this half term, it promises to be a cold one so our Big Freeze topic should fit in nicely...

Goslings 2015

Goslings 2015 1

Goslings have had a very busy couple of weeks preparing for Christmas as part of our 'Celebrations' topic. We talked about how different cultures celebrate and compared our own family traditions. We made Christmas trees and decorations, printed snowman hats and made place mats for our delicious Christmas lunch. We heard festive stories, watched a pantomime, attended a disco and learned about Hanukkah and the Christmas story. We even had a class party with a very special guest. And that was just in the last week!
