We have been learning about reading and writing instructions in Robin class. Today we followed a recipe, which is a set of instructions, to make gingerbread men. We loved the smell of the cinnamon and ginger and thought the golden syrup looked like honey! Miss Powell was impressed, once again, with how great we were at working together in groups and how fantastic the children whose job it was to crack the eggs managed! Have a look at our photos and find a copy of the recipe we used below. Maybe you could have a go at making some too!
What a busy day we had today! This morning when we all arrived in class we spotted the hi-viz jackets in the room and wondered what surprise was in store for us! As we settled down for our reading, register and minute maths we kept trying to guess what might be happening. Miss Powell then explained that we were going to the South Campus to watch a performance about anti-bullying. Despite the fact it was raining, we set out on our adventure up the hill with enthusiasm. We really enjoyed the show - it was funny and delivered an important message about anti-bullying. Charlie was chosen as a volunteer to join in with the actors; we were all so proud of his fantastic performance.
After lunch, we had more excitement in store ... a fantastic science investigation. We had to investigate materials to find out which one would be best to use in Cindrella's mop. We wanted to find out which material was the most absorbent and tried to carry out a fair test, practising many skills such as accurate measuring and working co-operatively with others in our group.
At the moment, in Robin class, we are trying hard to learn our 2 times table. We have been practising by playing a game called 'Hit the Button'. When we beat our previous high score we earn a house point. Some of us are getting so quick we are very near to beating Miss Powell's score!
