At Tennyson Road Primary School we have two representatives from each class who form our Anti-bullying committee. The children are chosen by the class teacher and are selected on the basis that they will be able to be a responsible member of the Anti-bullying team.
Bullying at Tennyson Road Primary School is extremely rare. However, we are aware that it can happen at anytime to any child. Our committee are there to provide an extra layer of support to all of our pupils. Children are often very comfortable speaking to their peers, so we ensure they know if they are worried about bullying they can go and speak to their class representative who will help them to deal with the problem. Children are also encouraged to report any incidents to an adult in school. Mrs Nicholls (HLTA/Behaviour support) leads our Anti-bullying committee and the children have regular meetings where they can discuss any issues with her.
We aim to put a positive spin on Anti-bullying and most of what we do at school is about raising awareness and ensuring our school remains a 'Bully free zone' we also spend time educating children on what bullying is.
We hold three Anti-bullying days per year and during these special days we have visitors attend who lead activities and workshops and the Anti-bullying committee organise competitions.
